Pink lipsticks look pretty with dewy summer skin and during this time of the year when we have a lot more sunlight. Scanning through the upcoming Autumn/Winter makeup trends, I quickly got the hint that we will soon not have as many opportunities to wear pink. So whether you like it bright & bold or soft & pretty, this is the time to let pink shine!
The 2 that I am wearing at the moment are both from Sephora.
This is the Lip Attitude Glamour G08
It gives an innocent "how could I have done wrong" look. This is a light to medium blue-based pink with fine silver shimmer that is not overdone. It is not a pastel pink at all and because of its sheer texture, it will look great on a variety of skin tones.
This is the Lip Attitude Star S04
It is the color of creamy raspberry punched with silver and gold shimmer. The shimmer is detectable when you rub your lips together but that doesn't bother me too much. Because of its sheer texture, it is relatively foolproof to apply and great for those trying pinks for the first time.

Window Shopping - Amsterdam's Maison de Bonneterie
The sun has brought life back onto the streets of Amsterdam and lifted my dreariness. Now anyone and everyone is finding an excuse to be outdoors; to dine, lay about or shop around.
During the next few weeks, I plan to compile and publish a series of posts which will focus on showcasing the wonderful shop windows around the city. I am excited about this as this gives me a chance to combine my eternal love of sunshine, my passion for window shopping, and any excuse I can get to be outdoors. I hope that window shopping around the city will be as much fun and as uplifting for you, as it has been for me!

Selling brands such as Blue Blood (shown at the 2008 Amsterdam Fashion Week), Karl Lagerfield and Aaiko, Maison de Bonneterie of Amsterdam is a place where I can easily lose myself for several hours. What I love about this shop is that they carry some wicked brands to choose from, and that I usually feel comfortable wandering about the shop. Once I even chanced upon a fashion event where they served canapé and champagne to all the shoppers!

LA SENZA Launches Their New Makeup Line
La Senza; the makers of fun, sassy lingerie from Canada has just launched their own line of cosmetics. Their sister company, Victoria's Secret has long been serving up cool makeup to play with. La Senza's vibe is a little different from Victoria Secret's, and I expect the same quality as well.

A Sign of Spring (Things) To Come
Spring is coming soon!
You know spring is coming when you see adverts with flowers and all the joyous colors. Things start to warm up around us and flowers "spring" up and the snow starts to melt. It comes just before the heavier and stickier summer.
YSL brought out a collection for Spring '08 very much in-tune with the lightness and ease of springtime. The carefree spirit is apparent in the very portable packaging; just toss them in your purse and you're good to go!

AIFW - Designers Kick off in the Red Light District
This is one of the many events that kicked-off the Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW). I spent a wet but rewarding Saturday afternoon admiring the window displays in Amsterdam's Red Light District. In place of the red lights that normally shine on these windows were more flattering white spot lights.
A handful of designers strutted their talents and made their work accessible to the public.

Throughout this week I will be bringing more news from the runway shows at AIFW where I look forward to seeing the designs and the makeup/hair trends. I expect to see alot of flowy-soft fabrics for women (lots of dresses) in the many colors of spring.

Amsterdam International Fashion Week - Starts Tomorrow!
The Amsterdam Fashion Week kicks off this Saturday in Amsterdam's famous Red Light District. Those famous red windows will be decorated with fashion models wearing creations from various designers. I feel so privileged to be included in all of this excitement; it really is a great way to see the coming trends in fashion and makeup; as well as meet all of these wonderful artists. I will of course be paying special attention to the makeup looks and hairstyles; on how they are worn with the clothes.
Also check out the video above of the show by the Fashion Institute Arnhem 2007. The thought that I will be part of this makes it hard for me to sit still!
I'm also very much looking forward to Joline Jolink's show, as well as the show by last year's winner of the Dutch Project Catwalk, Django Steenbakker (he looks cute!).
So much excitement, I can barely contain myself!
N Collection by MAC- Make a Statement in the Nude!
MAC's N Collection coming out soon, is one not to be missed. This collection is made for those who love nude tones because it is one that is completely stripped of the expected vibrancies of MAC. It is about polished finishes. There are no loud colors; yet MAC manages to make a statement with it.
Designers on the Spring runway such as Proenza Shouler, Luella Barley and Dolce & Gabbana (all pictured above), all rocked the bare look for makeup.
MAC has also come out with what's called Charged Waters with this collection. The interesting one is the Revitalizing Energy version because it is said to be infused with the vital ions of diamond. It promises a glowingly-quenched complexion!

MAC & Fafi's Collaboration
Fafi's art pieces were first seen on the walls in Toulouse, her hometown in France. Now, they are seen in many parts of the world including Corsica, Belgium and Thailand. Most of you already know that she is collaborating with MAC to produce a collection due on the counters in Spring. But I really had to write a post about it because I personally cannot wait to see this one come out.
The color choices are whimsical yet "street".

A Look at Spring Makeup Trends: Inspirations from H&M
All these looks were created using H&M's own brand of makeup. Their prices are certainly easy on the wallet (3.90 eur for a nail polish) and the colors are often trendy and fun. The textures are also very workable. The next time you are at their store, it might be worth checking these out!
