Nexcare Acne Dressing 3M

Following one of my last post where I confessed on being an avid 'spot-picker', I have come across a product from a company that you are probably quite familiar with. Nexcare/3M has produced a product which addresses acne spots and they come in not an ointment, but in the form of sticky bandages. This is one of the most interesting idea I have come across lately and they really deserve an award for ingenuity!

How it works (as described by Nexcare):

  • Hydrocolloid dressing absorbs secretion and promotes healing of acne.
  • The dressing protects acne from dirt and other contaminants.
  • Waterproof and breathable.
Here is what an expert has to say about Hydrocolloid (the main ingredient in the acne dressing) and more information about the dressing from the Nexcare/3M website.

I found it quite enjoyable to use as the cute little buttons (comes in 2 sizes) were pre-cut to fit spots of any size. I have also cut the biggest circle in half to cover different spots. The dressing sticks on contact (on cleaned, dried skin) and remained there during a full night of tossing and turning sleep. I had forgotten that I had them on until I looked into the mirror in the morning to find circular spots on my face! (In case you were wondering, they did not leave any imprints on my skin .) The result? The spots that I would have otherwise extracted or squeezed at were flattened. A few of the dressings had white spots on them when removed (a sign that they have absorbed something from my skin). Since I have not had a deep pimple recently, I cannot report on how well they work on them.

Summary
:
As long as you don't have any company over, or whoever is sleeping next to you don't mind, have fun with these! I have ceased to stress/obsess over little spots since I got these. Give them a try and share your likes and/or dislikes with us!

i have been using this for a few years and i love it :)
i stick them on before sleeping and my pimple is nearly gone in the morning.
the only thing i dislike is that when i peel it off, the skin feels a little bit tender and looks a bit red.

Hi Divine Blackness, I was thinking the same thing as well when I saw these! I really can't resist innovative beauty items. Good luck with yours!

Hey Seeker :) Yeah it really takes the stress out for me when I get a spot because they are fun. (they say that it's not good to stress over spots because it makes it worse right? ). Take are hun!

Hi Anonymous, glad to hear that these work for you as well! I really wasn't sure about these when I first got them because, as you may already know, there are too many gimmicky products out there. It's interesting that you get tender and red after peeling. If I notice the same thing, I will let you know here :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi Anca, thanks, I'm glad you found it interestin! I have actually thrown away the box but I don't remember it having any ingredients listed on it. The main ingredient Hydrocolloid is something that is used in bandaging because it is great at absorbing or drawing out liquids from a wounded site on the skin. Since it does that, it helps to promote faster healing. The funny thing is that it doesn't list as having the usual acne-fighting ingredients such as salystic acid, so how it works seems quite 'magical' hehe! Hope this helps your decision on whether or not to purchase it!

First time I used them and they seem to work. I like to pick my spots but there was no need for that this morning. If this continues working for me it would be almost life saver as I battle to fight my obsession with picking.

I was introduced the acne dressing from a friend who went to HK and she gave me a box to try as one of the souvenirs, and I must say it really works! I like it so much that I have asked my other friend who is going to HK to help me get lots :)It has a long expiry dates, about 4 years long.

Hi there, I was looking for info on this nifty little product, and came across this site. I actually got mine from a site called sasa.com. It's a Hong Kong based site, but has many international websites for buyers from different countries. I think 1 dressing pack was around 4-5 US$.
I also noticed some redness and tenderness upon removing them, but they definitely "absorb" spots, and I too hope this helps alleviate my strong desire to "pick" at my skin!

anonymous...these little buttons are great and really don't cost much. I love waking up and seeing that they've fully absorbed and completely white-ish!

To the post from 4th October... Then I would suggest to consult a doctor so he or she can prescribe you with a topical antibiotic. It can take as little as a month to see a remarkable difference. I used Dalacin T solution and
Retin-A O.O25%. It really worked for me!

Anonymous...it would be too expensive in the long run to use a box everyday. Have you talked with a dermatologist for other options like retin-A and many other options? I personally have found retin-A to work great smoothing out skin and clearing out my complexion.

Hey Fashionista,

Thanks! I got mine off ebay but if that seems a little off putting, you can also buy them on asian webshops such as sasa.com.
